County Armagh

IRELAND'S BLUE BOOKCOUNTRY HOUSES, HISTORIC HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS

Ireland's spiritual capital for 1,500 years and the seat of both the Protestant and Catholic archbishops, the venerable city of Armagh predates Canterbury as a Christian religious site. Armagh was also the legendary seat of the Celtic kings of Ulster. It's a vibrant city, with hospitable people and great attractions.

Newforge House

Newforge House

Cradled in mature gardens and green fields in the village of Magheralin this Georgian Country House, built in 1785, has been in the family for six generations. Extensive, yet sensitive, restoration works were undertaken over two-years before John and Louise Mathers opened the family home to guests in 2005. Newforge boasts light and airy reception rooms and six individually designed bedrooms.
