ROYAL PORTRUSH GOLF CLUB |
| County Antrim |
|
| Many golfers have portrayed Royal Portrush Golf Club Dunluce Course, re-designed by H.S.Colt in 1947, as one of the most challenging in the world. The club was founded in 1888 and has hosted many championships such as the only Open Championship ever held in Ireland - in 1951. In more recent times the Club has hosted the Senior British Open 1995-1999 & 2004 and the Amateur Championship in 1993. The more sheltered Valley course also offers a stiff challenge and hosts (with Portstewart, Castlerock and Ballycastle) the Causeway Coast Amateur Tournament - the biggest amateur golf tournament in the world.
Royal Portrush was voted by Golf World Magazine, 8th in UK & Ireland and by Golf Magazine, USA, 12th in the world.
