Historic Georgian House in gardens and park adjoining the town and overlooking the Newport river and quay. For two hundred years it was the home of the O'Donnells, once the Earls of Tir Connell.
Famous as an angling centre Newport House offers preserved salmon and sea trout fishing on the Newport river (8 miles) and Lough Beltra. Salmon fishing is available on nearby Loughs Feeagh, Furnace, Conn and Mask. Golf is available at Westport championship course and at Mulrany; also horse riding and pony trekking with supervised instruction.
The cuisine is based on fresh local produce. Our home smoked wild salmon and fresh seafood are specialities of the house. The food is complemented by an extensive cellar which includes many of the classical vintages. Awarded Ireland's 2004 Wine Award of the Year in Georgina Campbell's - Jameson Guide. Also awarded Bushmills Malt Irish Restaurant Awards 2004 - Best Restaurant in Connaught.
The house is furnished with many fine antiques and paintings which provide an elegant setting for a quiet and relaxing holiday.
