Belle Isle Chef in New Channel Four Television Series

Ireland's Blue Book is delighted to announce that Liz Moore, resident chef at Fermanagh’s award-winning Belle Isle School of Cookery is one of the eager challengers during the first week of a brand new Channel 4 television series starting on Monday 26th April at 5pmIron Chef, the cult television cookery show, originates in Japan  and has had an enormously successful US version where Michelle Obama is its number one fan. This exciting new series has been described as ‘Gladiators meets MasterChef’.

Each day a team of four challengers enters the legendary Kitchen Stadium, the culinary battleground presided over by the Chairman. It is here that the Chairman has gathered four of the UK’s most notable and competitive chefs who boast several Michelin stars between them – Tom Aikins, Martin Blunos, Judy Joo and Sanjay Dwivedi. Each day of the week a team of intrepid challengers takes on one resident Iron Chef, cooking dishes based on a ‘special ingredient’ of the Chairman’s choosing. All the dishes are judged by a panel of food critics and at the end of the programme either the team or the Iron Chef is declared the winner.

The end of the week culminates in the Friday Final where the strongest Challenger of the team takes on an Iron Chef alone in a head to head stand-off. The Chairman ups the stakes by introducing more unusual and challenging ingredients. The show is anchored by wine expert Olly Smith whilst the cooking action is co-commented by Michelin star chef Nick Nairn who reckons it is the most combative cookery show he has seen in 15 years of doing almost every competitive cookery show under the sun.

Liz, who originally comes from County Monaghan,  was chosen as a challenger from hundreds of applicants longing to take part, mostly professional chefs. She says it is the most exciting television she has ever taken part in and loved every minute of it. Start watching on Monday 26th to see if she makes it through to the Friday Final.
