IRELAND'S BLUE BOOK
recently held a press reception in New York's prestigious Harvard Club. Six Blue Book members, along with the Chief Executive of the Blue Book,
Hilary Finlay
, travelled to New York for the Reception. Included in the group was
Ray Byrne
of the Wineport Lodge, who is the current President of the Association.
Dr. Alistair & Rev. Nancy Hanna
, owners of Ardtara Country House, are members of the Harvard Club and helped to organise the event. The Reception was co-hosted by Tourism Ireland in New York. The Blue Book's listing of Irish Country Houses, Historic Hotels and Restaurants, attracted a huge media
presence from a myriad of top travel and food magazines and newspapers (including journalists and writers from Saveur, New York Post; Town & Country; Wall Street Journal; Travel & Leisure; Life magazine; New York Daily News) all of whom expressed a keen interest
in hearing more about Ireland's most renowned and best loved heritage properties.
Ireland's Blue Book
is the only Irish member of the Historic Hotels of Europe which is affiliated with the Historic Hotels of America. This alliance was emphasized during
Ray Byrne's
speech at the reception 'The Blue Book recognises the importance of alliances in our marketing strategy. These organizations, including Ireland's Blue Book, are unique in their promotion of their countries traditional and cultural heritage, thus ensuring a living heritage
for future generations to enjoy.' Ray also thanked the tourist board 'The Association is also extremely grateful to Tourism Ireland for its co-operation and support over many years. They work closely with our Association in promoting the properties, many of which are
situated in rural locations. This has been instrumental in developing a tourist product in some of Ireland's more isolated regions.'
Joe Byrne
was fulsome in his praise of the Blue Book association and the work of its Chief Executive,
Hilary Finlay
. 'Hilary Finlay of the Blue Book has been extremely successful in the promotion of the Irish Country Manor House in the U.S. and the Blue Book is now as well known and loved in the U.S. as it is back in Ireland.'
The other Blue book members who travelled to attend the Reception were
Jane English
from the Wineport Lodge;
Dermot & Kay McEvilly
of Cashel House in Connemara;
Simon Haden
the owner of Gregans Castle in Co. Clare;
Catherine FitzGerald
and
Bob Duff
of Glin Castle and
Kevin Dundon
, the celebrity chef owner of Dunbrody House in Co. Wexford.
Issued: Wednesday 4 April 2007.
