October 2009: Rosleague Manor, Edmund and Mark Foyle’s Regency manor house overlooking a sheltered Connemara bay, has won a prestigious César award – one of the Oscars of the hotel industry – from the Good Hotel Guide, the leading independent guide to hotels of character and quality in Great Britain and Ireland.
Blue Book House, Rosleague Manor is named Irish hotel of the year in the 2010 edition of the Guide which will be published on 5 October.
Desmond Balmer, joint editor of the Guide: ‘Guests are made to feel special at Mark and Edmund Foyle’s manor house. Mark is a personable manager who involves himself with everything that happens at the hotel. Some of the Guide’s favourite hotels are in Ireland and Rosleague Manor is a splendid example of the hospitality that our readers so enjoy. Rosleague Manor joins a distinguished line of members of Ireland’s Blue Book to have won our award.'
Mark Foyle said: ‘This award nicely caps our tenth year at Rosleague Manor. Our staff share the excitement and we will work hard to justify the award which is all the sweeter because it comes from a truly independent guide book.’
The Good Hotel Guide nominates 10 hotels in the UK and Ireland every year for the award, named after César Ritz, the most celebrated of hoteliers. These are for a mixed selection of places each of which is considered to be outstanding in its own class.
