17th September 2019: Ireland’s Blue Book is delighted to announce that Marfield House, Co. Wexford has won the prestigious Hotel of the Year award at the 2020 Georgina Campbell awards.
Hoteliers and restaurateurs from around the country came together at the Intercontinental hotel in Dublin on Sunday 15th September for the Georgina Campbell Awards. Celebrating 21 years in their current incarnation, the awards recognise and honour Ireland’s standard-bearers in food and hospitality in Ireland with particular emphasis, this year, on the industry pioneers who put down quality markers a generation or more ago.
Opened as a hotel in 1978 by Ray and Mary Bowe, the incomparable house outside Gorey soon grew its reputation as a place of unique luxury and outstanding hospitality and service. Marlfield has continued to excel in Ireland’s ever-changing hotel landscape and is now run by daughters Laura and Margaret. As well as the original house, the family now run the great café-restaurant, The Duck, alongside the kitchen garden and a contemporary self-catering cottage. Marlfield House is a perfect example of a sustainable development and is a very worthwhile winner.
