August 24th, 2009: Ireland’s Blue Book is delighted to announce a host of Blue Book House & Restaurant wins at the annual FOOD & WINE Magazine awards. Now is their ninth year the FOOD & WINE Magazine Restaurant Awards took place on Sunday 23rd of August in the Mansion House in Dublin.
Blue Book winners on the day included, John and Francis Brennan from The Park Hotel Kenmare receiving the “Hall of Fame 2009 Award”. Awarded, “for their sheer panache in the good times and their good sense in more challenging times”.
Another major award for a Blue Book member was the “Restaurant of the Year 2009” which was awarded to Chapter One Restaurant. Chapter One are no strangers to the Restaurant of the Year Awards. They received Dublin’s best restaurant in 2008, 2004 and 2002 as well as being “Commended” for “Dublin’s Best Restaurant Award 2007”. It was not their only win on the night, Ian Brosnan was awarded “Best Sommelier 2009” and Ross Lewis was “Commended” under the “Dublin Best Chef Award 2009” category. To complete a wonderful evening for the restaurant Chapter One received a “Commended” under Dublin Best Restaurant Award 2009.
The Blue Book’s new entry for 2009, The Ice House in Ballina was delighted when their Pier Restaurant, won the “Connaught Best Restaurant Award 2009”.
Other accolades on the evening awarded to Ireland’s Blue Houses and Restaurants were as follows:
“Highly Commended” for the Park Hotel Kenmare under the Best Service Award 2009 category.
“Highly Commended” for Gregans Castle Chef Mickael Viljanen under the Munster Best Chef Award 2009 category.
“Highly Commended” for Dunbrody House under the Leinster Best Restaurant Award 2009 category.
“Commended” for Gregans Castle under the Munster Best Restaurant Award 2009 category.
“Highly Commended” for L’Ecrivain under the Restaurant of the Year Award 2009 category
