Summer in the City at Hayfield Manor

26/04/2016

The 'Wild Atlantic Way' driving route beautifully showcases the abundant coastal attractions from West Cork to Donegal. The well signed, easy-to-navigate route includes 157 'Discovery Points', where drivers can stop and learn more about the must-sees and lesser-known diversions of this incredibly scenic area.

Begin or end your Wild Atlantic Way adventure in the heart to Cork city - the gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way.  Spend two days discovering all the exciting attractions of Cork city and county before you begin on your trek westward on the Wild Atlantic Way.   With one of the largest natural harbours in the world, this historic trading port, established by the Vikings in the 10th century, has plenty of worthwhile attractions: the 16th-century Blackrock Castle remnants of the city wall, the breathtaking Holy Trinity Church, majestic St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, the unsettling 19th-century (former prison) Crawford Art Gallery and St. Anne’s Church, where visitors are invited to tug on the Shandon Bells.

Come and stay at Hayfield Manor and dip your toes into the Wild Atlantic Way experience.  On day one meet your private chauffeur guide who will bring the local attractions to your fingertips and help you decide your itinerary for the day. In the morning make your way east to the historic harbour town of Cobh, last port of call of the Titanic and to millions of Irish people who set sail to the new world in the 1800s. Proceed to the market town of Midleton, home of the Jameson Whiskey experience and lunch at the town's famous Farm Gate Café. Spend the afternoon discovering the heights of Blarney Castle & the town of Blarney, which is ideal for shopping for traditional and contemporary Irish goods.

On day two, take to the streets in the heart of Cork city and visit the English Market with a fine reputation for local artisan fare and also for attracting the attention of Queen Elizabeth II during her 2011 visit. Return to Hayfield Manor in time for Afternoon Tea served in traditional style in the tranquil setting of the residents’ lounge, The Drawing Room, or join the who’s who of Cork society for Hayfield Manor’s elegant white-glove Afternoon Tea service in Orchids. Dine at Hayfield Manor on the evening of your choice in either Perrotts Garden Bistro or opt for gourmet dining in Orchids. This package includes 2 nights with full Irish breakfast, dinner on one evening in your choice of either Orchids Restaurant or in Perrotts Garden Bistro, a day's touring with chauffeur guide with lunch & Hayfield Manor's Afternoon Tea.  Price: From €431 per person sharing
