As part of their ongoing sustainability efforts and commitment to the environment, the Hayfield Family Collection of hotels are delighted to announce a new partnership with the Irish reforestation organisation, Reforest Nation.

This new partnership will officially begin next week with a ‘Green Friday’ campaign taking place across the collection of hotels in lieu of the annual Black Friday sales. Instead of a traditional sale, this ‘Green Friday’ event will see a native Irish tree being planted for every voucher sold and hotel stay booked during the four day period from Friday the 25th of November to Monday the 28th.

In line with this ‘Green Friday’ campaign and their ongoing sustainability work, Hayfield Family Collection have also updated their new line of voucher boxes, packaging and gift bags to be fully recyclable and in most cases, fully biodegradable, as well.

Speaking on the new partnership, Michael Jacobi, Managing Director at Hayfield Family Collection, said: ‘We are delighted to partner with Reforest Nation, and look forward to working closely with Gearóid and his team. We are very fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful nature in our hotels, and it is hugely important to us to help protect, maintain and enhance our environment, by working with Reforest Nation to achieve their goal of planting of 1 million native Irish trees by 2024. As a company we are always looking to further improve our sustainability practices, and reduce our environmental impact’.

About Reforest Nation

Started in 2020 in Co. Louth by recently graduated Wildlife Biologist, Gearóid Mc Evoy and his friend James, a recently graduated Environmental Scientist, Reforest Nation, have planted over 250,000 trees to date, absorbing an estimated 1,340,000kg of co2 in the process. Their goal is to plant 1 million native trees by 2024.

On Partnering with the Hayfield Family Collection

‘We are delighted to partner with the Hayfield Collection to help restore local biodiversity and fight climate change through the planting of native trees. As a social enterprise, support from the public and businesses like the Hayfield Collection has been the backbone of achieving over 250,000 trees planted and will be crucial to reach our goal of 1 million native trees by 2024. We want to encourage the public to be environmentally conscious, supporting businesses who are actively trying to use their platform for environmental custodianship is a great way to do this. We hope other hotels and businesses around Ireland will be inspired by the Hayfield Collection and join us on our mission to reforest and rewild our nation’. - Gearóid Mc Evoy (Founder of Reforest Nation)

Sustainability in Hayfield Family Collection

Hayfield Family Collection embrace the principles of sustainable tourism, while continuing to focus on improving sustainability and reducing environmental impacts across their hotels.

This partnership with Reforest Nation has come online at the same time as another recent partnership with Roscommon based tech start up, Positive Carbon, which is aimed at reducing food waste in all of the groups kitchens, assisting in the effective reaching of sustainability targets.
