The residents’ bar at Mount Juliet Estate is called the Major's Bar, and is named after Major-General Sir Hugh McCalmont and Major Dermot McCalmont who both lived at Mount Juliet Estate.

This is the perfect place to while away the evening by sipping on a cocktail, and the team at Mount Juliet have shared with us one of their signiture cocktail recipes for you to try at home: 

A variation of an Espresso Martini called 'The Race Winner'

 

Ingredients:

Vodka

Kahlúa

A double shot of espresso

 

Method:

Pour the vodka, Kahlúa and espresso into a cocktail shaker.

Fill the cocktail shaker with ice. 

Shake vigously.

Place the strainer on top of the shaker and pour the contents through a sieve directly into the glass. 

 

How to serve:

In a Martini glass

Garnished with coffee beans.
