Carrig Country House Joins Ireland's Blue Book

February 2011: Carrig Country House on Caragh Lake outside Killorglin has become the newest addition to be accepted to join Ireland’s Blue Book, the prestigious collection of Irish country house hotels, historic hotels, restaurants and castles.

Owned by Frank & Mary Slattery, Carrig Country House joins the Park Hotel in Kenmare as the second Kerry property in the Blue Book collection of 38 charming hideaways. Fellow members include Ballymaloe House in Cork, Kevin Dundon’s Dunbrody House in Wexford, Dublin’s Merrion Hotel and Michelin-star restaurants L’Ecrivain , Chapter One and Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud.

The award- winning Carrig Country House is a former Victorian hunting lodge whose previous owners include Lady Cuffe, Lord Brockett Snr., Sir Aubrey Metcalf and Senator Arthur Rose Vincent before it was bought by Frank & Mary Slattery in 1996 and turned into a stylish getaway. The 17-bedroom property is set in four acres of gardens that sweep down to its own private jetty on Caragh Lake with stunning views across to the MacGillicuddy Reeks. Its acclaimed Lakside Restaurant, has won several awards and features a seasonal menu featuring the finest local ingredients.
