21/01/2020

January 2020: Ireland’s Blue Book is delighted to announce that Hayfield Manor, Co. Cork has been awarded with Ireland’s Best Welcome at the 2020 Independent Readers Travel Awards.

The awards, supported by Ireland’s Blue Book, attracted thousands of nominations across 16 categories and the winners were announced at lavish ceremony held at Dublin's Mansion House. Readers voted in categories that included everything from Ireland’s Best Beach to Ireland’s Favourite Airline. The reader-nominated finalists were then decided by a panel including Pól Ó Conghaile, 'Weekend' editor Rachel Dugan, Francis and John Brennan, Niall Tracey of Fáilte Ireland and food writer Katy McGuinness.

According to readers, five-star Hayfield Manor provides the "friendliest, warmest welcome around" with the staff being "suitably friendly in a very genuine way". The dining experience was described as "high-end with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. No snobbery or stuffiness".

Speaking about the win, Ettiene Van Vrede, CEO of the Hayfield Family collection, said: “Winning the Best Irish Welcome Award from the Irish Independent Readers, right at the start of this new decade, is an enormous boost for us all at Hayfield Manor. The award is especially important to us as it was our own valued guests that nominated us.  We are thrilled and wish to convey sincere thanks to those who voted for us and to the Irish Independent for hosting the awards.”
