Charming Country House and Prestigious Dublin Restaurant join Ireland’s Blue Book for 2021

November 2020. Delphi Lodge in Galway and Dax Restaurant in Dublin city centre are the two new properties joining the Ireland’s Blue Book collection of country houses, historic hotels and restaurants for 2021. The new additions bring the total number of properties in the Ireland’s Blue Book collection to 57.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

Delphi Lodge, a captivating 1830s Country House Hotel in Galway, is set in stunning Connemara with charming accommodation and food to match. Located in an unspoilt valley, the 1000-acre estate is one of Ireland’s hidden treasures. This beautiful lodge has 13 large, comfortable bedrooms, a large dining room, snooker room and three reception rooms with log fires.

Open since 2004, Dax Restaurant offers unrivalled levels of elegant dining and fine French cuisine in Dublin’s historic Georgian quarter. Head Chef Graham Neville creates modern Irish cuisine using the very finest local produce, delivering an experience of taste and culture that is renowned throughout the Capital and outside Dublin.

A delightful 1830s Country House Hotel in Co Galway, in one of the most spectacular settings in Connemara, with charming accommodation, glorious scenery, great food and total tranquillity. Located in a wild and unspoilt valley of extraordinary beauty, the 1000 acre Delphi estate is one of Ireland’s hidden treasures. More about Delphi Lodge

·         Delphi Lodge was built in the 1830’s by the Marquis of Sligo, as a hunting/fishing lodge and is reputed to have named it ‘Delphi’ based on the valley’s alleged similarity to the home of the Oracle in Greece.

·         The holiday cottages, being surrounded by some of the highest mountains in the west of Ireland, are also popular with hill-walkers, artists and those in search of a quiet hideaway. The local wildlife, featuring otters, badgers, pine martens, peregrine falcons and myriad wild flowers, is exceptional.

·         The nearest village, Leenane in Connemara, is 8 miles to the southeast and the small town of Louisburgh is 11 miles to the north. The beautiful Killary Fjord is just two miles away and there are a number of spectacular sandy beaches, some good for surfing, within a short drive of the property.

·         The inspiration for Dax is born out of owner Olivier Meisonnave’s love for his Aquitaine home in south west France with its ancient mix of Occitan, Angevin and Basque the region has evolved a florid repertoire of classic, rustic cuisine.

·         A stellar career that has seen Chef Graham Neville reach the top ranks of Irish haute cuisine. He has worked in TRU restaurant and Les Nomades in Chicago, Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck in Bray, Le Caprice in London, La Pyramide in Lyon plus seven years with Kevin Thornton in his eponymous Dublin Restaurant.
