August 2012: Ireland’s Blue Book is delighted to announce that the King Sitric Restaurant and Townhouse was inducted into the Food & Wine Hall of Fame at The FOOD&WINE Magazine/ Maison Louis Latour Restaurant of the Year Awards. The awards now in their 12th year were held in the Dublin Conventaion Centre on August 19th.

According to Food & Wine, King Sitric owners Aidan and Joan MacManus "have earned an international reputation for fresh seafood in their harbour-side restaurant in the picturesque fishing village of Howth. Not only have they continually invested in the restaurant to ensure it moves with the times thus retaining its high reputation, they are also the driving force behind local food and travel innovations."

Fellow chefs Derry Clarke of l'Ecrivain and Kevin Thornton of Thorntons, along with Gregory Alken (Sales & Marketing Director Febvre & Company Ltd presented Joan and Aidan with their award.

The King Sitric celebrated 40 years in business last year. Long before current trends for locally produced foods Aidan MacManus’s philosophy was to source the very best of local produce. A member of Ireland’s Blue Book since 1989, the King Sitric continues to win awards. The restaurant was named “Best Seafood Restaurant 2010” by InDublin magazine and scooped a BIM Seafood Circle award in 2011.

Located in the Old Harbour Master’s house, the restaurant is named after King Sitric II, Norse King of Dublin in the 11th Century who had a close association with Howth and was son in law of the famous Irish King, Brian Boru
