Ireland's Blue Book is delighted to announce that Mount Juliet Country Estate has been awarded a prestigious Michelin star for its Lady Helen restaurant. The gourmet restaurant, which already boasts 3 AA rosettes, was awarded the accolade for both its service and contemporary menu.
Earlier this year the Lady Helen also won the ‘Best Hotel Restaurant’ in the coveted Restaurant Association of Ireland Awards.
The highly coveted Michelin star was awarded to the restaurant under the guidance of Executive Chef Cormac Rowe, aged just 30, and his team at the Lady Helen. The restaurant enjoys panoramic views over the Mount Juliet Estate and the River Nore. Cormac’s dishes are prepared using the finest local produce and fresh herbs, picked daily from the estate’s own herb garden. The fine dining experience at the restaurant is complemented by the exquisite service and opulent ambience at the Lady Helen.
Cormac Rowe says of the Michelin Guide recognition, ‘’We are all delighted at the Lady Helen and Mount Juliet to be awarded the star for our restaurant. To receive this industry recognition is the ultimate accolade and it’s a proud moment for us, and for Kilkenny.’’
Rowe’s menu is a truly special experience boasting gourmet delights such as a Cromesquis Confit of Quail with Red Chicory, Apple, Truffle Aioli and Hazelnut Velouté and Pan Roasted Foie Gras with Poached Champagne Rhubarb, Spiced Bread, Candied Ginger and Liquorice Jus.
Originally from Wexford, Cormac started his career with Kelly’s in Rosslare before arriving at Mount Juliet eight years ago via the Park in Kenmare. His innovative menu has earned the Lady Helen a much deserved reputation as one of Ireland’s finest dining experiences.
Nestled in the surrounds of Co. Kilkenny, Mount Juliet is just over an hour from Dublin and in close proximity to Carlow, Kilkenny and Waterford city. Local producers include Knockdrinna Cheese and Goatsbridge Trout Farm.
