Wins for Blue Book Houses at the Leinster Regional Finals of the Irish Restaurant Awards 2019

March 2019: Ireland’s Blue Book is delighted to announce wins for Campagne Restaurant, Mount Juliet Estate, Viewmount House, Tankardstown House, Marlfield House, Ghan House, Ballyfin Demesne and Wineport Lodge and at the Leinster Regional Finals of the Irish Restaurant Awards 2019 which took place on Wednesday 6th March in Kildare.

Over 500 restaurant owners and staff celebrated their hard work and achievements at the Awards, which saw many well-known restaurateurs of Leinster turn out to see if they had won one of the prestigious awards.

Campagne Restaurant achieved the title of Best Restaurant Kilkenny, while Tankardstown House, The Duck at Marlfield House, Wineport Lodge, VM Restaurant, Ballyfin Demesne, and The Lady Helen at Mount Juliet Estate took home the awards for Best Hotel and Guesthouse Restaurant in Meath, Wexford, Westmeath, Longford, Laois and Kilkenny respectively.

This was also a night to recognise some of the culinary stars of the industry, with Best Chef Louth going to Stephanie Le Sourne of Ghan House; Best Chef Longford to Robert Groot Koerkamp at Viewmount House; Best Chef Laois to Sam Moody at Ballyfin Demesne and Best Chef Kilkenny going to John Kelly at Mount Juliet Estate.   

Both Brabazon at Tankardstown House and Ballyfin Demesne were awarded Best Wine Experience in Meath and Laois, and Ghan House was recognised as Best Emerging Cuisine in Louth

Speaking at the awards early this evening Chief Executive of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, Adrian Cummins, said; “Now in their 11th year, the Irish Restaurant Awards continue to showcase the incredible food that is on offer in the cafes, pubs and restaurants of Ireland, as well as recognising the teams behind these establishments and the hard work and dedication that they put in. With well over 80,000 nominations received from the public this year, the standard for the judging process was higher than ever.

All of the county winners now compete for the Regional and All Ireland Titles, which will be announced at the Irish Restaurant Awards. These will be held in the Clayton Hotel, Dublin on Monday 13th May, 2019.

Public Nominations: In the first stage of the Irish Restaurant Awards, members of the public voted to nominate their favorite restaurants, hotels and hospitality personnel. These nominations were independently assessed by BDO, and the nominees go forward to their respective Regional Judging Panel.  Judging Panel: Our judging panel, made up of industry experts, food writers, culinary academics and critics, then narrow down the list of nominations to our final regional winners.
